What’s a garden coach?

The Garden Coach is the person who to help another people to be a better gardener.

A trainer is an additional tool for people who love gardening but need expert guidance to help them get the most out of their landscape. Coaching is a collaborative process with personalized advice and practical training.

In this case as Agronomist, I like to teach people how to create and maintain their kitchen garden at home. I am excited by the idea that people are looking for ways to eat healthier, include more vegetables in their daily diet. And it excites me not only because they are consuming more vegetables but also because they are determined to eat pesticide-free vegetables.

In this case, the trainers teach the owners how to create, plant, care for and keep their gardens healthy.

Now, Who hires an outfield trainer?

Anyone who has a garden who loves gardening, wants to have their own vegetable garden and has questions! Coaching is especially useful for:

1.- New owners who need to know how and where to develop their garden. Know what they can sow and at what times? know what is growing in your garden and how to take care of it.

2.- Experienced gardeners who want feedback on new gardening projects they plan to undertake.

What to look for in a Garden Coach?

You want an experienced gardener who knows a lot about plants and their care. Look for someone who has studied horticulture and landscaping or is a master gardener. Coaches also need to be good communicators as their job is going to be to teach you how to be a good outfielder.

A gardening coach points you in the right direction and shows you how to get started.

How does it work?

In these moments where technology is available to everyone, sessions can be held by video conference, and if the client wishes it can be arrange an appointment to visit him in his garden. In these face-to-face or virtual sessions, he will answer your questions, offer specific suggestions for problem areas and advise you with anything else you need help with to make your garden perform better.

For example: when planning a garden you should take into account what the client wants, in addition to the space in his garden and the time he really has to dedicate to caring for the plants, so he may offer advice on how to make your garden require less maintenance, be more visually interesting and be more environmentally responsible. The trainer also records in a report what was discussed at that meeting, including specific information on plant care, a pruning schedule, recommendations for soil improvement; basically, a personalized schedule with useful information to help you keep your garden on track

As one last tip so you can get the most out of a training session, think ahead about your gardening goals, particular challenges, how much time you want to spend gardening, and any particular designs or plants before you visit.
