Autumn is here! What to plant and how to achieve the best harvests.?
Ok, fall is here, it's our first year trying to have our garden productive and we don't know what to do at this time of year. With the arrival of autumn the days begin to be shorter and the temperatures begin to drop. Our summer crops that are less resistant to these low temperatures begin to die and it is time to prepare for autumn and remove all these crops, and we think that we will no longer be able to continue working in our garden? The answer is no, of course we can and here I will give you some ideas to have our garden beautiful and cheerful.
Although it is true that the crops are now going to grow at a different rate, a little slower, our garden this season can also be full of vitality. So let's get to know many of the autumn crops and vegetables. With this post what we want is to share information about what we can plant in the fall, of course all this will depend on where you are, because if you live in areas where winter is very strong, the most convenient thing would be to delay these crops to the end of winter: unless you have or want to build a small greenhouse.
The crops typical of this time and which we can do with direct sowing in our raised beds; they would be the crops that withstand low temperatures well and even develop much better at lower temperatures.
a.- Spinach
b.- Turnips (any variety)
c.- Escarole
d.- Broad beans
e.- Peas
f.- Garlic
g.- Carrot
h.- Beet
Apart from direct seeding in our raised beds, we can also transplant certain plants (either we made the seedbed or we bought the seedlings in our nearest nursery). These crops prefer less hot climates, therefore they are ideal for planting in autumn or late winter depending on our geographical location. We can plant:
a.- Cabbage
b.- Cauliflower
c.- Romanesque
d.- Brussels sprouts
e.- Broccoli
f.- Leeks
g.- Lettuce
h.- Spinach
i.- Celery
j.- Chives
k.- Strawberries
